Michelle Reinert Mahieu
Michelle came to the law from her first career in accounting and business management.
She returned to Kansas after serving as one of the lawyers for The Honorable George G. Fagg in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Her work in the U.S. Court of Appeals involved a broad variety of legal issues, including discrimination claims, federal sentencing guideline issues, due process claims, federal civil procedure issues and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) claims.
In her Kansas practice, Michelle currently handles
real estate and lease
transactions, property tax issues, contract drafting and disputes, lien filing and foreclosure, Uniform Commercial Code security interest issues,
Family and Medical Leave Act
issues, insurance
defense, illegal computer access issues, defamation claims against internet users, municipal tax challenge issues, non-profit tax exemption applications, condominium formation, and many other civil matters.
